Too many notifications? Switch them off, miss nothing.
Six categories, each one switched on or off independently. And whatever you turn off, everything stays readable in the bell at the top of the Discover screen.
In 30 seconds
- Profile → Settings → Notifications.
- Switch off the categories that bother you, keep the rest.
- The bell keeps everything, including what you turned off.
- Getting nothing at all? Check your phone's own settings.
The six categories
Each one switches off separately. Here's exactly what they cover.
New matches
A public match is created near you. In a big city this is the noisiest category : often the first one people switch off.
My matches
A player joins or leaves, the match fills up, gets edited or cancelled, a spot frees up. Worth keeping if you organise.
Match reminders
The day before, then roughly two hours before kick-off of your matches. This is the one people most regret switching off.
Messages
New private and group messages. The content doesn't appear in the notification : since private messages are encrypted, only the existence of the message is signalled.
Ratings
A rating is waiting after a match, or you've just received one.
Friends
Friend request received, or request accepted.
Switching off isn't losing
These settings only cover push notifications : the ones that buzz your phone. Everything still arrives in the bell at the top of the Discover screen. So you can switch it all off and stay perfectly up to date, at your own pace.
Stuck?
I'm not getting any notifications
First check in your phone's settings that Gaùcho is allowed to send notifications — by far the most common cause. Only then check that the categories are switched on in the app.
I'm getting too many
Start by switching off « New matches » : in an active city that's what generates the volume. Keep « Match reminders » and « My matches », which concern games you're actually signed up for.
Why doesn't the message content appear?
Because our servers can't read it : private messages are end-to-end encrypted. The notification tells you a message has arrived, never what it says. See Messages & safety.
When exactly do reminders go out?
